Free Your Social Accounts From Getting Accessed by Old Apps
Published April 27th, 2016 by Nicolai Kamenzky
I can't count anymore for how many tools I clicked the "Sign in with Twitter" button or the "Sign in with Facebook" button. And most of those tools I don't even use anymore. But they still have access to my social accounts. Sounds familiar? Time to clean up!
The fastest way to cut these old apps off is to go to app listing of your social account – like shown here for Twitter – and revoke their access.
Here are the links that take you directly to the app listing pages of many social sites with which you may have signed in to other apps:
Link to App Listing | Notes |
---|---|
Bitly | Use the "Disconnect" links. |
Behance | Scroll to the "App Access" section. |
Use the "X" (Remove) buttons. | |
GitHub | Use the "Revoke" buttons. |
Google Analytics | Click on the app entry and then use the "Remove" button. |
Google Calendar | Click on the app entry and then use the "Remove" button. |
Google Contacts | Click on the app entry and then use the "Remove" button. |
Google Hangouts | Click on the app entry and then use the "Remove" button. |
Gmail | Click on the app entry and then use the "Remove" button. |
Use the "Revoke Access" buttons. | |
Tick the check boxes and then use the "Remove" button. | |
MailChimp | Use the "X" buttons in the "Authorized Applications" section. |
Use the "Revoke Access" buttons in the "Apps" section at the bottom. | |
StackOverflow | (1) Click on your profile picture at the top, (2) select the "Edit Profile & Settings" tab, (3) select the "Site Settings > Applications" menu item to the left, and (4) use the "remove" links. |
Use the "Revoke access" buttons. | |
YouTube | Click on the app entry and then use the "Remove" button. |
If any site is missing let me know in the comments below and I will add it to the list. Thanks!
